Sounds From The Sea

I could never recall the melody

Of the only song you played to me

Along the shore –

I remember more

Of the noise beneath my breast

When undressed I danced,

Into the blue.

In many ways

It was silent while we unfolded our bones

To soak up the sea,

As though the current itself

Muted your music

To pull our limbs apart

Like petals

Without interruption.

An effortless seduction

The water swayed me from

The song in my subconscious

As we lay out our limbs,

White flowers hovering

In the unknown

Whilst the air plucked the ocean

Against our ears

Like a never-ending string.
