Sounds From The Sea

I could never recall the melody

Of the only song you played to me

Along the shore.

I remember more

Of the noise beneath my breast

When undressed I danced

Into the blue.

In some ways it was silent

While we unfolded our bones

To soak up the sea.

As though the current itself

Muted the music

To pull our limbs apart

Like petals

Without interruption.

With little seduction

The water swayed me from

The song in my subconscious

That queried right from wrong,

As we lay out our limbs,

White flowers on the water.

Cleansing the noise between my ears

As nature does,

I think of the way

The air plucked the ocean

Like a never-ending string.
