Winter of Waves

Sand ran between my toes

The way that time glides

In and out.

Fading,
Folding over itself,
Failing to turn back.

I am falling under
With intention each time
As the surface that carried me here rolls away.

Out of sight,
The might of my mind is uncertain
And floats like seamless figures

Together in waves.

If there is truth in wine,
Surely I would know by now

That the bodies we trace out for tomorrow,

And touch today

Shift with the tide:

Shadows on the surface of the untamed sea
